The purpose of scouting is to help young people achieve their full physical, intellectual , social and spiritual potential as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local , national and international communities.

Scouting offers a fully balanced programme of activities majoring on outside experiences such as camping, swimming , walking, climbing, abseiling etc. Most activities allow the youngsters to achieve badges up to the Queen Scout Award , which is the highest award in Scouting. Activities for the indoors range from first aid, art & craft, music , mapping etc. The emphasis is on fun & friendship, challenge & adventure, personal development , citizenship and self-reliance.

In Scouting today there are over 400,000 young people taking part, which makes it the largest co-educational movement in the UK.
